Summary
This is a Full-Time, Exempt lead position that will report to the Solar Superintendent and Solar Production Manager. The Solar Residential Lead Installer is responsible for supervising and coordinating the electrical and installation aspects of residential solar energy systems. This role requires leading crews, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant codes and standards. The Lead Installer will also mentor team members and serve as the primary point of contact on job sites.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead installation crews in completing residential solar projects from start to finish.
Supervise and participate in the installation and wiring of AC and DC components of residential solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, and load centers.
Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to NEC, local building codes, and utility requirements.
Train, mentor, and evaluate installation team members.
Manage daily workflow, delegate responsibilities, and oversee safety practices on job sites.
Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Communicate with clients and inspectors to provide updates and resolve issues.
Perform system layout, conduit bending, wire pulling, and panel terminations with precision and safety.
Commission and program energy storage systems (ESS) such as Tesla Powerwall.
Serve as the acting Foreman, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma; Technical Certification or Journeyman Electrician License preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in solar PV system installation, including AC/DC circuits.
Demonstrated experience supervising installation crews.
Proficiency with energy storage systems and hybrid solar + battery configurations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Diplomas
Valid California Driver’s License
Electrical Licensure or NABCEP Certification strongly preferred
