Job Title Medicare Coverage Analyst Sr (Clinical Trials Coverage Analyst Sr)

Summary Shape the future of clinical research at the University of Kentucky. This fully‑remote position supports and enables groundbreaking clinical research across the university by reviewing study protocols, budgets and related documents to determine qualifying status according to Medicare Clinical Trial Policy. The role performs comprehensive coverage analysis for all applicable study protocols and provides guidance to study teams about proper coding and billing.

Responsibilities

Review study protocols, budgets, informed consent forms, contracts, FDA documents, and other study documents to evaluate Medicare eligibility.

Conduct coverage analysis for all applicable protocols, reviewing Medicare Benefits Policy, NCDs, LCDs, state law, professional practice guidelines and, when needed, consulting with the Medicare Administrative Contractor.

Develop and deliver professional coverage analysis and financial calendars for non‑billable services according to national billing standards.

Document coverage analysis justifications in the medical record and ensure compliance with UK policies for patient care services.

Serve as a resource on coverage analysis and billing integrity for investigators, study teams, coordinators and other research staff.

Cross‑train on clinical trial budget development and charge review processes.

Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA). Experience: Minimum 4 years in a clinical or research setting, preferably with experience in coverage analysis, budgeting, management, or medical coding/billing. Required skills include clinical trial protocol knowledge, medical coding or billing, medical terminology, attention to detail, strong Microsoft Office proficiency, and familiarity with Epic billing and OnCore MCA/Calendar consoles. CA certification or training in Epic, OnCore, or coding is preferred. No supervisory responsibilities.
