Medicare Coverage Analyst Sr (Clinical Trials Coverage Analyst Sr) . This role supports and enables groundbreaking clinical research across the University. About the Role
This position is eligible to be fully remote. It performs detailed reviews of complex study protocols, budgets, informed consent forms, contracts, FDA documents, and other study documents to determine qualifying status according to Medicare Clinical Trial Policy. It conducts a comprehensive coverage analysis for applicable study protocols, determines billable items after review of Medicare Benefits Policy, NCDs, LCDs, CFR, state law, and professional guidelines. When necessary, it consults with the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for the region. It develops and delivers professional coverage analysis and financial calendars where coverage analysis is not applicable, and provides guidance to study teams about proper coding and billing for procedures in the Epic system within the context of clinical research and state/national standards. It follows UK policies for patient care services, including documentation in the medical record and coverage analysis justifications. Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Research Administration and Billing Integrity, the Research Coverage Analyst helps develop and refine processes to integrate the coverage analysis workflow with UKHC and UK processes. The role collaborates with investigators, study teams, clinical research coordinators, and other staff, serving as a resource on coverage analysis and maintaining billing integrity. The role will cross-train on clinical trial budget development and charge review. The University of Kentucky uses equivalencies in determining minimum education/experience. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Clinical Trial Protocol knowledge, medical coding or billing, medical terminology, attention to detail, ability to work independently, collaboration, proficiency in Microsoft Office, understanding of the Epic billing system, OnCore MCA and Calendar consoles. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Preferred Education/Experience: Experience in clinical settings with research coverage analysis, budgeting, management, and/or medical coding or billing. Experience with oncology, cardiology, or neurology coding preferred. CA certification or training in OnCore, Epic, or coding is preferred. Deadline to Apply:
