This Network Engineer will support a service provider engineering team in designing, testing, and optimizing large-scale IP/MPLS networks. This is a hands-on role focused on validating network performance, troubleshooting routing issues, and assisting in automation initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Layer 2/3 networking, routing protocols, and lab-based testing environments, with a passion for network automation and scalability.
Responsibilities
Assist in configuring, testing, and troubleshooting service provider-grade routers and switches.
Support routing protocol operations, including IS-IS, BGP, Segment Routing, and MPLS.
Run network performance testing using Ixia, Spirent, or similar validation tools.
Capture and analyze logs with Wireshark, tcpdump, or vendor tools to identify and document issues.
Work with NETCONF, gNMI, and telemetry systems for network automation and monitoring.
Maintain clear, detailed documentation of test cases, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Collaborate with software, QA, and operations teams to support seamless deployment and integration.
Stay current on emerging trends in network automation and routing technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking concepts and protocols.
Hands‑on experience with IS‑IS, BGP, MPLS, and traffic engineering.
Experience with testing tools such as Ixia, Spirent, or similar.
Proficiency with NETCONF, YANG models, and telemetry (gRPC, gNMI).
Ability to capture and interpret logs; familiarity with Wireshark/tcpdump.
Basic scripting skills in Python.
Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP (not required).
Experience with automation frameworks or test orchestration tools (not required).
Exposure to lab certification testing, field deployment, or automation infrastructure (not required).
