This position must be able to work 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, including weekends.

Qualifications Minimum

High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred: 1 year crisis intervention with victims of domestic violence. Certification in first aid and CPR. Experience in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and data entry. All Resident Advocates must successfully complete ACT and CORE Comp training. All Resident Advocates must be willing to submit extensive background checks. Resident Advocates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Resident Advocates must be willing to work holidays, weekends, and other shifts as requested by the Director Domestic Violence Services.

Job Summary Ensure the ongoing operation of the shelter. Answer hotline calls, conduct intake and exit interviews for participants. Provide information, case management, referral, and advocacy services to shelter and outreach participants.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide domestic violence and sexual assault participant advocacy services, daily to include, but not limited to, the following:

Providing crisis intervention and information/referral to hotline callers.

Performing all required victim follow-ups and record keeping.

Case management and follow-up to include:

Safety planning with all participants.

Providing advocacy, crisis intervention and information and referrals (including referrals for community resources and services as appropriate) to shelter residents.

Participate in case management meetings, assist with file maintenance and submit monthly statistical reports, per funding requirements.

Assisting domestic violence victims with filing victim’s compensation claims.

Provide shelter-based services to residents, including but not limited to:

Orientation with new residents regarding communal living and assisting new residents in meeting their immediate needs (food, clothing, toiletry items, etc).

Providing crisis intervention and emotional support to residents.

Conduct intake and exit interviews with any person who is admitted or discharged from the shelter. Review all intake and exits to ensure accuracy and completion of records.

Arrange transportation of participants as appropriate.

Every staff member is responsible to do the following:

Understand and promote the culture of philanthropy.

Serve as a philanthropic ambassador within the organization and community.

Help cultivate relationships on behalf of and in support of the organization.

Work with development staff to support grant applications and other development activities.
