Join Oracle as a Principal Member of Technical Staff (IC4) where you will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
Job Description You will be part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) team, building and maintaining scalable, fault‑tolerant services at a large‑scale distributed multi‑tenant environment. Your role will involve providing technical leadership, owning production backend services, and shaping the future of cloud connectivity.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and debug complex software applications and operating systems.
Provide technical leadership to a team of software developers.
Specify, design, and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet evolving needs.
Work independently on defined projects and, when appropriate, supervise junior staff.
Develop high‑availability, scalable, and fault‑tolerant microservices and networking components for OCI.
Own product lifecycle from conceptualization to operational maturity.
Contribute to distributed systems design, including consensus, messaging, and high availability.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of experience in systems/application development or distributed systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
Proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
Experience delivering RESTful services in Java.
Experience with distributed systems concepts such as CAP theorem, consensus, messaging, and high availability.
Proficient in Java and Python programming.
Experience building and maintaining Linux daemons, secure connectivity solutions, and cloud operations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience providing technical leadership for customer‑facing features.
Experience owning production‑grade backend services.
Experience in infrastructure‑as‑a‑service and building services at cloud scale.
Background in building high‑availability systems.
