3rd Shift - Sanitation Supervisor

The Sanitation Supervisor leads and supports all sanitation activities on 3rd shift to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant food manufacturing environment. This role directs the sanitation crew, organizes nightly cleaning tasks, verifies sanitation results, and promotes teamwork and accountability across departments.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead the 3rd shift sanitation crew, assigning daily tasks based on the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
Guide and train team members on proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and GMP standards.
Communicate daily goals, updates, and pass-down information to Production and QA teams.
Coach employees to build skills, improve performance, and maintain a positive work culture.
Sanitation Operations
Direct the cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment, floors, and facility areas following SSOPs.
Review pre-op inspections and ATP results with QA before equipment is released for use.
Oversee the correct use, labeling, and storage of chemicals and sanitation tools.
Identify issues during the cleaning process and coordinate repairs with Maintenance when needed.
Keep sanitation records, logs, and checklists up to date and organized.
Safety & Compliance
Promote a safe work environment by reinforcing PPE use, chemical safety, and hazard awareness.
Follow all GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA, and USDA requirements.
Conduct weekly sanitation walkthroughs and document findings with action steps.
Participate in safety meetings and support a “see something, say something” mindset.
Recommend ways to improve cleaning efficiency and reduce downtime.
Support investigations related to quality or microbiological findings.
Collaborate with other departments to improve sanitation practices and overall plant performance.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing.
1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and sanitation procedures.
Experience with sanitation chemicals and cleaning systems.
Solid communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working in a wet, humid, or warm environment and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
