Qualifications
Possession of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and one of the following:
1) completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education;
2) possession of an associate’s (or higher) degree; or 3) passing a rigorous assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements.
Applicants may be exempt from taking the multiple choice examination if they provide college transcripts verifying 48 units or more in core subject areas of English and Math courses with a grade of "C" or better. Transcripts must be submitted with application. If an applicant does not possess enough units to be exempt, he/she must attach to their application a letter requesting an examination date.

Educational Stipend
Associate's Degree ($500/yr)
Bachelor's Degree ($1500/yr)
Master's Degree ($1500/yr)
Doctoral Degree ($1500/yr)
Special ed paraeducators: $500 per year, prorated by FTE, split into equal payments based on months paid per year
General Requirements
Subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance
Submit to a general tuberculosis examination
Be fingerprinted
Complete a pre-placement physical examination
Show proof of identity and right to work in the United States as conditions of employment
Adopt a drug‑free workplace policy; employment contingent upon satisfactory results from drug testing
Certification When a vacant position is to be filled, the Classified Personnel Director submits to the appointing power the names of the top three “ranks.” This is known as “certification,” and the appointing power may select any one of the persons certified. The names of those not appointed remain on the eligibility list.
Eligibility List Candidates successfully completing all phases of the application and examination procedure will be ranked on the appropriate eligibility list according to total examination score. This list will be in effect for six months.
