The Network Engineer will oversee installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks.

Education & Certification Requirements Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree and hold a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).

An active Secret security clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), and execution of all reporting functions.

Complete data input related to new network equipment and service activations, ensuring compliance with DISA standards.

Configure and maintain DISA’s out-of-band management network comprising Cisco and Juniper devices with baseline configurations customized for each site.

Upgrade software on Cisco and Juniper devices as needed.

Develop and update project planning documentation, including IP addressing schemes and port assignments on out-of-band management nodes.

Conduct systems analysis, consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements.

Verify points of contact, location details, and interface information accuracy.

Engage with DISA project managers and customers to resolve requirements issues and facilitate approvals for service requests.

Analyze network hardware specifications and configuration processes, applying industry standards.

Apply knowledge of network architecture, including protocols like BGP, ISIS, VLAN, VRF, and services such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN.

Configure, test, and analyze network systems, troubleshooting as necessary.

Collaborate effectively within a team environment and work independently to complete assignments.

Qualifications

4 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2 years with a master’s degree.

Proficient in network hardware configuration and testing processes.

Experience with network protocols and services, including BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, VRF, and WAN.

Knowledge of router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols.

Hands‑on experience with network appliances such as routers, load balancers, firewalls.

Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Experience with DISA systems, processes, or SharePoint data entry is preferred.
