Overview The Network Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the company’s industrial network, servers, and IS infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of all network and server systems that support both corporate and local technology environments.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain company-wide networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
Manage and monitor servers, storage systems, and network hardware
Troubleshoot network, server, and IS infrastructure issues to minimize downtime. Provide occasional after-hours troubleshooting support.
Provide end-user support for operating systems, desktops, and printers. Proactively resolve issues affecting end-user experience.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices for network and server systems
Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications, hardware, endpoints, and databases. Support industrial control systems (ICS) and other operational technology (OT) networking requirements.
Coordinate with corporate IS and operational teams on infrastructure upgrades, deployments, and projects.
Maintain documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures
Ensure network and system backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity measures are up to date
Analyze systems and consult with users to define software, hardware, and network needs; coordinate with corporate resources to improve technical offerings
Ensure solutions comply with regulatory and licensing requirements
Manage and support local initiatives and projects, including scoping, scheduling, and resource coordination; identify site deficiencies and coordinate resolutions
Administer field servers (design, patches, file shares, AD permissions) and manage system setup/configuration
Design and implement best practices for scalability, maintenance, and performance
Troubleshoot complex or undocumented issues using sound judgment
Recommend and implement policies to optimize resource use
Stay current on technology, networking, and industry best practices
Assist in the designs and implementation of new network solutions
Perform installs, configurations and network equipment support as instructed
Interact with subcontractors/partners involved with network installations
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot routine problems and issues
Investigate faults in the network as requested
Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases by using established procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned
Preferred Skills
Familiar with project and vendor management
Expert knowledge of ethernet and fiber network cabling standards
Able to work independently with minimal guidance; excellent time management skills
Highly skilled with a broad array of network and system hardware and software
Familiarity with SQL, VMWare and virtualized hosts, guests; Cisco IOS. Knowledge of other applications such as Asana, Citrix, Adobe
Strong troubleshooting skills; proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Outstanding customer service skills; work independently and in team collaboration
Detail‑oriented with the ability to multi‑task and work under pressure
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non‑technical staff
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
Proven experience in network administration, server management, and IS infrastructure
Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, etc.) is a plus
Familiarity with network security, firewalls, VPNs, and cybersecurity practices
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills for coordinating technical and non‑technical team
Physical Requirements
Valid Michigan Driver’s License
Visual acuity, clear speech & hearing ability, cognitive ability, hand/eye coordination
Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this position; along with sitting for extended periods of time
Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment as required
Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely fulfill all in‑plant job requirements
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions and in industrial environment around hot and cold, noisy process equipment
Pass required background check, physical examination and drug screens
