Job Overview
The Whitebark Pine Reforestation Forester fills a generalist position responsible for most phases of forest land management at the project level, ensuring all proposed activities meet applicable Tribal, Federal and State regulations and laws. Projects assigned will be of a moderate to highly complex nature, often controversial, with numerous conflicting social, political and biological factors.
Responsibilities
Manage most phases of forest land management at the project level.
Ensure all proposed activities meet applicable Tribal, Federal and State regulations and laws.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, Forest Management or a related Natural Resource Degree related to Restoration Ecology.
Master’s degree and/or three (3) years of experience preferable.
Experience working or researching in high elevation forest including Whitebark Pine stands.
Possession of a valid Montana Driver’s License and ability to qualify for a Bureau of Indian Affairs Motor Vehicle Operator license.
Physical exam and/or pack test for fire activities as required by government regulations.
Must possess or be able to obtain a pesticide applicator’s license.
Licenses and Certifications Valid Montana Driver’s License and ability to qualify for BIA Motor Vehicle Operator license. Physical exam and/or pack test for fire activities as required by government regulations. Pesticide applicator’s license mandatory or obtainable.
