Join Boston Public Schools as a long‑term substitute Theater Teacher (K‑6). This position starts on 11/14/2025 and ends on 12/08/2025 and is a per diem assignment.
Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Theater Teacher who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. Assesses students’ understanding regularly with ambitious learning goals in mind and takes ownership of making necessary adjustments to instruction to reach goals despite setbacks.

Demonstrates mastery of and enthusiasm for the content area and the pedagogy it requires.

Scaffolds and differentiates instruction to enable all students to do complex thinking and rigorous academic work.

Actively creates and maintains an environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected.

Regularly reflects on practice, seeks and responds to feedback, and demonstrates self‑awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development.

Qualifications – Required
Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License for Theater, all levels.
Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified according to NCLB.
Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by Boston Public Schools.
Current authorization to work in the United States.
Qualifications – Preferred
Experience teaching in urban schools.
Fluency in one of BPS’s official languages (Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali).
Certified in subject area and at least one of the following: Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language (grade level appropriate).
