Pay Range
$49,960.00/yr - $64,952.00/yr
Summary The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Program is designed to hire transitioning service members, National Guard, Reserve, and Veterans Corpsmen – combat medics and medical technicians into positions at VA Medical Centers as an integral part of the medical team. Candidates generally qualify based on U.S. Armed Forces experience or equivalent education.
Qualifications
Meet all Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) conditions by the closing date 09/30/2026.
Have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-6 grade) in medical technician duties such as medication administration, minor surgical procedures, diagnostic studies, and clinical interventions.
Complete 18 semester hours of graduate education or an internship in medicine‑related coursework.
Possess a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that satisfies total requirements.
Preferred: Experience as Hospital Corpsman – Combat Medic – Medical Technician.
Duties
Perform ongoing patient care duties in an outpatient clinical setting.
Assist with medication administration via various routes (intramuscular, subcutaneous, topical, etc.).
Conduct patient screening, collect health histories, and document findings in the EHR.
Assist licensed personnel with behavioral/psychiatric care and crisis intervention.
Perform diagnostic tests (vital signs, EKG, blood analysis with hand‑held analyzers).
Provide wound care, dressing application, and assist in minor procedures.
Operate specialized medical equipment and support rapid response teams.
Document all interventions and maintain accurate health records.
Travel for training and perform other duties as assigned.
