As part of the integrated health model of Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (TVHC), the Integrated Behavioral Health Program provides behavioral health services to patients currently receiving primary care services at TVHC. The
Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS)
conducts screening, assessment, brief treatment, and consultative services to patients with mild to moderate mental health symptoms. As a licensed clinician (or ASW), the BHS utilizes evidence‑based practices for brief treatment modalities and provides linkage and referrals to community services as needed. The BHS works from an interdisciplinary approach in collaboration with the PCP, consulting psychiatrist, and care coordinators.
Schedule:
This is a full‑time position, 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours.

Compensation
Behavioral Health Specialist I: $35.55 – $38.84 per hour, depending on experience.
Behavioral Health Specialist II: $43.44 – $47.46 per hour, depending on experience.
This position is represented by SEIU, with compensation and benefits determined by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Salary is based on the wage scales outlined in the agreement. Responsibilities
Comply with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and customer service standards.
Conduct brief, non‑stigmatizing screenings to evaluate the needs of children and adults for mental health and support services.
Perform comprehensive bio‑psychosocial assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co‑occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs. Conduct follow‑up as appropriate based on assessment results.
Provide behavioral health services in low‑intensity/brief treatment (e.g., problem‑solving therapy, behavioral activation, and other evidence‑based practices) in a culturally, linguistically, and age‑appropriate manner.
Provide early interventions and collaborate with Care Coordinators on referrals to specialty mental health services.
Provide ongoing consultation for primary care staff in appropriate mental health techniques.
Participate in multidisciplinary collaborative meetings.
Participate in integrated and/or therapeutic support groups to address behavioral health and chronic health conditions such as diabetes and depression.
Participate in multidisciplinary staff meetings and other staff processes to achieve program development, staff development, program evaluation, program operations review, and other activities needed to maintain quality of early intervention services.
Initiate and take on special responsibilities as required by grant‑funded projects and other program development efforts.
Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged administrative and patient information in a professional manner.
Perform all duties for successful electronic health record maintenance, including completion of client/patient records after each visit according to established protocol, coding, and chart signing within the designated time set by the organization.
Perform all duties and services in full compliance with TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Doctorate in Psychology required.
For Behavioral Health Specialist I (BHS I), must be a Registered Associate (ASW) working under supervision toward licensure.
For Behavioral Health Specialist II (BHS II), must be a fully licensed clinician (LCSW or LPCC).
Minimum of one (1) year of related experience required.
Qualifications
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem‑solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills with co‑workers, patients, and families.
Team‑player with primary care and agency staff.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of mental health issues.
Willingness to travel to and from various service sites as needed.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced primary care clinic.
Ability to complete work and articulate provider concerns in a timely and concise manner.
