Position Summary The Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the intercollegiate women’s wrestling program. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting qualified student-athletes, fundraising, organizing camps, managing schedules and budgets, fostering community engagement, monitoring student‑athlete academic progress, and ensuring full compliance with NCAA and College regulations.
Supervision Received/Exercised Reports to the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach and supervises Student Assistants and Student workers.
Essential Functions
Coach and mentor members of the women’s wrestling team.
Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of practices, competitions, and team scheduling.
Support the recruiting strategy; identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified student-athletes.
Participate in fundraising and community engagement initiatives to enhance program resources and visibility.
Monitor student-athletes’ academic performance, class attendance, and progress toward graduation.
Promote and model sportsmanship, integrity, and respectful conduct among student-athletes.
Assist with alumni relations and program promotion.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all NCAA, College, and departmental policies and procedures.
Collaborate effectively with athletic department staff and represent the College positively in all interactions with campus and external stakeholders, including alumni, community members, and media.
Support and uphold the mission, vision, and values of Alma College and the Athletics Department.
Foster leadership, personal growth, and civic engagement among student-athletes.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach or Athletics Director.
Required Qualifications
Minimum one year of experience coaching/competing in wrestling at the collegiate level.
Ability to work evenings and weekends, along with travel.
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to fulfil essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of NCAA Division III compliance and rules, and an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophy.
Experience working with underrepresented, first‑generation, Pell‑eligible, and diverse populations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
