Overview

Funeral Director/Embalmer, 40,000 – 55,000, Full Time. Responsibilities include compassionately facilitating funeral arrangement discussions with deceased next of kin and presiding over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family wishes, company expectations, and applicable laws. May perform Embalming responsibilities. As the licensed Funeral Director, responsible for compliance with mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations within the funeral establishment(s). Responsibilities

Arrangements Conference: Receive or initiate contact with the deceased’s next of kin, gather contact information, discuss needs, schedule Arrangement appointments, and email confirmations. May perform removals or transfers per company standards; care for the deceased respectfully; update removal status in proprietary software. Greet next of kin, facilitate Arrangements Conference, discuss options (life insurance, benefits), and promote funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and related merchandise. Transition Arrangement Conference to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor to present cemetery property, merchandise options, pricing, and contracts; in absence of an FSA/FSC, may perform FSA/FSC responsibilities. Review and authorize merchandise and service contract revisions. Directing Services: Confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements; preside as Master of Ceremonies for visitation, funeral, or graveside services per Company standards; supervise graveside procedures and ensure personal belongings are removed from the deceased prior to burial. Inspect deceased, attire and makeup; communicate concerns to preparation staff; ensure services align with contractual arrangements and next-of-kin expectations; provide guidance to services team members as needed. Interact with family to fulfill death care requests and identify leads for pre-need services. Event Planning: Manage event-related tasks such as scheduling resources (music, flowers, catering), producing memorial products (photos, obituaries, online memorials), and preparing event spaces. Perform attendant duties as needed and participate in community or charity events. Embalming: Prepare and embalm following company processes, including identification verification, authorization review, restoration, cosmetics, dressing, and preparation of human remains per procedures; verify appropriate casket and lining; update status in software; maintain preparation room and dispose of hazardous waste properly; inventory supplies. General: Work under general guidance; ensure compliance with regulations; seek guidance from manager; take initiative, discuss assignments and deadlines, and volunteer for additional work. Minimum Requirements

Education & Licenses: Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science. Certification/License: Current Funeral Director and Embalmer dual license in the practicing state; valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Experience: Industry experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Cognitive ability to reason, plan, identify problems, learn quickly; process and results-oriented; positive attitude and self-motivation; ability to build professional relationships; strong written and verbal communication; public speaking; proficiency with databases and MS Office. Work Environment & Hours

Work is indoors and outdoors across seasons; professional attire required when in contact with families. Work involves sitting or standing up to 6 hours per day; frequent stairs; physical demands including manual dexterity, lifting up to 150 pounds. Hours may vary; services may occur outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends. Benefits & Other
