Position Summary The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, also known as Financial Services, located on Central Campus is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University. It is the responsibility of the Controller's Office aka Financial Services to ensure compliance with all financial policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. Additionally, the Controller's Office oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University. Join Our Team and Make an Impact! Within Financial Services is Risk Services which is excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and skilled individual to step into the role of Manager, Insurance Services to the Associate Director. This pivotal position will not only support the Associate Director but will also play a crucial role in shaping the future of our insurance policy management duties. Key Responsibilities As Manager, you will oversee the University’s insurance portfolio, coordinating with internal departments, brokers, and state agencies to ensure accurate underwriting and policy management. Develops data collection processes, analyzes financial and exposure data, and prepares reports to support risk planning and premium allocation. Leads training initiatives, coordinates insurance billing, and supports overall risk services operations. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills within a complex institutional environment. Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. Conditions of Employment Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post‑offer, pre‑employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications 5 or more years of experience working in insurance sales or underwriting or working in a Risk Services/Management department for a complex or large‑scale organization, especially a public entity. Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively across diverse departments and with external partners. Demonstrated ability providing technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel as subject matter expert.
