This position is being posted for a potential government contract opportunity. Employment and compensation are contingent upon contract award. The pay range listed represents a good-faith estimate, in accordance with California pay transparency requirements, and may vary depending on the final contract terms, the candidate's experience, education, and other job-related factors.

Job Overview:

The Storage Engineer is responsible for the configuration, management, and security of SAN/NAS systems, backup solutions, and the overall data storage infrastructure supporting the DLIFLC Academic Network. This position ensures the health, availability, and performance of storage systems and backup operations for both on-premises and cloud-based environments. The Storage Engineer will plan, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and manage all storage-related servers and applications, and will design, implement, and oversee the organization's data storage systems to support mission-critical operations. This position will serve in the data center support group.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Configure, operate, and support SAN/NAS systems and backup solutions in a highly virtualized and converged environment. Monitor and provide daily support to ensure the health and availability of IT storage systems and infrastructure, both on-premises and in cloud-based programs and applications. Plan, install, maintain, and troubleshoot all storage-related servers and applications, including after-hours and emergency support as required. Design, implement, and oversee data storage systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and high availability. Manage and optimize backup and restoration processes, ensuring rapid recovery in the event of data loss or system failure. Collaborate with data center, system engineering, and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with DoD and Army standards. Maintain and update documentation for storage architecture, design, security, business continuity, deployment, and operations. Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and problem resolution for storage infrastructure. Support virtualization, redundancy, and disaster recovery solutions. Provide technical guidance and support to other IT personnel as needed. Competencies:

Advanced knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, backup systems, and storage management in virtualized environments. Experience with VMware vSphere, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies and applications, and Active Directory. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex storage issues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, multi-site environment. Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills. Requirements

Minimum Requirements/Education:

BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years of experience, or AA/AS with 7+ years of experience. And one of the following: IAT Level II (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP) Certification and CE/OS Certification. Experience with SAN technologies in a highly virtualized and converged environment. Experience maintaining a high availability data center. Relevant skills include VMware vSphere, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies and applications, and Active Directory. Location/Travel Requirements:

Based in Monterey, CA (Presidio of Monterey) with travel to additional sites including HI, AZ, CA, VA, and other CONUS/OCONUS locations as outlined in the PWS.

$95,000 - $115,000
