Job Description:
As a Structured Cable Network Technician, you will be part of the Network Support Team responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems. This role requires hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic cabling, strong technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in various environments including new construction and occupied office spaces. You will also contribute to process improvements and collaborate with vendors to implement effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities: • Design network architecture and telecommunications protocols • Install and oversee data, voice, and fiber optic cabling, equipment, and network devices • Troubleshoot and diagnose network malfunctions and technical issues • Conduct routine maintenance of systems and devices • Review and update policies and guidelines • Manage vendor relationships and validate network billing • Research technology trends and assess applicability to operations • Prepare technical documentation, weekly reports, and operational manuals • Collaborate with vendors to develop and implement solutions
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies: • In-depth knowledge of ISP/OSP copper and fiber cable connectivity • Experience installing, testing, and inspecting communications systems • Strong understanding of BICSI standards, industry regulations, and safety protocols • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing telecommunications hardware • Hands-on experience with Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6a, and fiber optic installation and termination • Knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable • Experience working in construction, renovation, and active office environments • Proficient with telecommunications testing equipment (e.g., Fluke Versiv, 4-pair tester, toner) • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $60.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
