SET THE COURSE

The Staff Accountant, Restaurants and Marlin Bars role is responsible for a wide variety of accounting functions, including month‑end close, support for budgeting and forecasting, process improvement, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month‑end, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries and ad‑hoc analysis and reporting as required to ensure timely and accurate financial data in compliance with GAAP.
  • Run preliminary division month‑end financial statements and review actual vs. budget/reforecast variances with the assistant controller; research and collaborate with business operations, FP&A, and the general ledger team to analyze variances.
  • Perform daily maintenance of Fintech e‑mail inbox, including general ledger coding revisions, master vendor file updates, and new vendor set‑up with Fintech and Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare COGS month‑to‑date and year‑to‑date reporting at major group and summary level.
  • Prepare discount month‑to‑date and year‑to‑date reporting by discount type and location.
  • Prepare restaurant commissions report for Payroll.
  • Prepare month‑end reclass and accrual journal entries.
  • Design and develop queries of financial data using pivot tables, v‑lookups, macros, and other complex Excel functions.
  • Support the year‑end audit as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Essentials For Life In Paradise

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • Generally, 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a restaurant business environment.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SAP preferred; R365, Fintech, Ottimate, and Simphony familiarity.
  • Skilled in developing detailed documentation and communicating financial information and results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team‑driven environment and/or independently to complete daily expectations.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions to problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Able to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $85,000 to $99,000 per year
