The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency within an aluminum die casting environment. This role supports new product launches, drives continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoots production issues, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop, and implement improvements in manufacturing methods, process flow, tooling, and equipment.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and extract data from the ERP system to support improvement initiatives and monitor project success.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action efforts related to quality, scrap, or downtime issues.
  • Participate in APQP, PPAP, and new product launch activities, ensuring manufacturability and seamless transition to production.
  • Design and specify fixturing, tooling, and layout modifications to improve workflow, efficiency, and quality.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, tooling, and production teams to resolve process bottlenecks and technical challenges.
  • Develop and support Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for new equipment and process improvements.
  • Track and report on engineering projects, downtime trends, and continuous improvement metrics.
  • Ensure all processes meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date work instructions, process documentation, and engineering records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • Can have an Associate's degree but need at least 10 years of experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (die casting or machining preferred).
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, process control, and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities; able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Work is divided between the shop floor and office environment.
  • May occasionally work off‑shifts to support projects or address production issues.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols when on the shop floor.

Additional Information

  • Candidates may be considered for Level I or Level II roles based on experience.
  • Level II Engineers (10+ years of experience) are eligible for compensation at the upper end of the salary range.
