GENERAL PURPOSE FOR JOB:
To serve as the primary point of contact for welcoming and assisting individuals visiting or calling the front office during the week, including donors and clients.
Assist social service Corps ministry to include summer camp and Christmas programs.
Responsibilities General
Greet people as they enter, assess their need and arrange an appointment with caseworker to meet their needs in a timely fashion, or connect them to the proper agency to do so, if The Salvation Army is unable.
Answer the phone and take messages with all pertinent information, relaying them to the intended recipient ASAP.
Assist Soup Kitchen Coordinator, as needed with prep and meal service, as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of client and donor information, securing such information each afternoon before leaving.
Assist in maintaining records and statistics for the social service office.
Meet with food pantry clients to provide bags of food pantry items
Keep up-to-date information about area services pertinent to our demographic
Keep an accurate timesheet for hours worked
Keep up-to-date chart of volunteer hours for the front office/social service of the Corps.
Enter social service assisted clients into database.
Employee is the primary receptionist and should not leave the desk uncovered by a qualified worker.
Weekly
Participate in staff meetings, bring pertinent information.
Keep ongoing statistical records
Work with other staff members on on-going projects
Ensure volunteer information and scheduling is up-to-date and agency paperwork submitted.
Prepare front lobby area for Sunday Services before leaving on Fridays.
Monthly
Submit social service statistics to Corps Officer within requested schedule.
Make sure social service database is up to date.
Seasonally
Take applications for seasonal assistance for Christmas Angel Tree & Camp Sebago
Assist with Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs as requested.
Assist with winter coat program.
Assist with maintaining seasonal statistics and submit report within requested schedule.
Occasionally
Attend additional Salvation Army meetings/ trainings relative to social services, with prior approval of supervisor.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Level 3:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related
SKILLS AND COMPETENICIES
Excellent interpersonal skills
Customer service skills
Telephone etiquette and good communication skills
Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, telephone systems, calculators, copiers and facsimile machines.
Be a team-player and be able to work on their own initiative in a dynamic and challenging environment
Maintain Integrity and confidentiality
COMPLIANCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Completion of KeepSAfe abuse risk management training as required by the KeepSAfe policy and assigned by the supervisor.
Complete ServSafe Handler training within 30 days of hire
Have valid driver’s license
Complete and pass Defensive Driving for Light and Medium Duty Vehicles course
