Equipment Operator II pay range for this posting is $46,726 - $84,105

AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:
Operate a semi-automated rear-loading solid waste collection truck to collect household trash, recycling, yard waste, and other waste as required.
Minimum Requirements for Equipment Operator I:
AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:
Maintain and operate an automated/knuckle boom trucks and be responsible for routine maintenance procedures, safe and effective operating, and loading and storing the equipment.
Minimum Requirements for Equipment Operator II:
AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR III IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:
Plan, coordinate, and perform daily solid waste collections for all City of Hampton Solid Waste customers. The incumbent must operate an automated refuse truck, knuckle boom truck, front-end loader at the yard waste site, semi-automated rear loader, and a tractor-trailer.

AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:

- High school diploma or GED.
- Some experience operating refuse collection vehicles or similar equipment.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or obtain one within 180 days of employment.
AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:
Maintain and operate an automated/knuckle boom trucks and be responsible for routine maintenance procedures, safe and effective operating, and loading and storing the equipment.
Minimum Requirements for Equipment Operator II:
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a solid waste position or a closely related experience.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B
AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR III IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:

- Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in a solid waste position or a closely related experience.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A
Additional Requirements for all operators:
- The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and the City's current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
