Description
Under general supervision performs data entry/utilization of library data base. Types correspondence, reports, etc. Greets visitors and patrons, provides assistance and information. Answers telephone, files, maintains applications and forms, etc. Assists in taking inventory, repairing and shelving books. Prepares and maintains various reports and records. Essential Job Functions
Provides daily assistance to patrons of the library; greets and assists patrons; provides direction to patrons in use of library services; checks in and out materials; assists patrons in the computer lab; provides training in the use of the virtual library; assists patrons with research, use of equipment and other databases. Performs routine clerical and administrative tasks for the library; registers patrons, issues library cards and explains use of the library and services. Answers reference questions with the assistance of the librarian, takes request for book reservations Responsible for circulation duties, using the computer and online catalog, collecting payment for overdue fines, lost items, and damaged materials. Answers telephone, relays calls, takes messages, and provides information Provides and promotes routine operational tasks to asist in maintaining the continous flow of service in the library; shelves books, audios and videos. Organizes the library resources to ensure they are properly displayed and stored. Minimum Qualifications Required
High School Education or equivalent; and none to one year of experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Additional Position Information

Knowledge of: Basic library operations, policies and procedures. The Dewey Decimal system. Basic arithmetic. All computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job.
Skills in: Filing alphabetically, numerically, using good spelling, and performing basic math computations. Communicating orally with internal staff, citizens, and other departmental staff in order to give and receive information in a courteous manner.
