Associate Toddler Teacher - Mary Stuart Gile ECE Center The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization supporting 200 staff across 30 Early Childhood and Out of School Time programs. We have a unique opening at the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center on the campus of NHTI in Concord. As a laboratory school, the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center demonstrates best practices in early childhood education, with student teachers working alongside staff in classrooms.

We are seeking energetic, organized, and experienced early childhood educators to help students grow in the field while providing high-quality, emergent curriculum for young children. We currently have an opening for a full-time Associate Teacher position. The Associate Teacher is responsible for upholding and implementing the BGCCNNH mission, supporting children and teachers, and ensuring the health and safety of the children. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: actively engaging with children, assisting with cleaning and organizing the classroom, and documenting child observations. Must demonstrate interest in and willingness to learn child development and health and safety practices.

Duties

Prepare Youth for Success: Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.

Respond to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children; interact positively; encourage exploration; use positive child guidance strategies.

Provide guidance and role modeling by planning and outlining curriculum to meet individual needs, incorporating elements of an emergent curriculum.

Establish and maintain program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.

Evaluate Club programs continually, including tracking outcome metrics; ensure programs address member needs and reflect gender and cultural diversity.

Use child observation notes as a tool for curriculum planning and maintain accurate records.

Maintain awareness of members in the assigned group.

Oversee implementation of applicable standards and policies (NAEYC, GSQ, Culture DNA, BGCCNNH, and related safety/compliance practices).

Dispense medications according to policy, administer first aid as needed, and communicate occurrences to families.

Oversee and assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well-being and upkeep.

Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision

Oversee proper record-keeping and weekly reporting, providing data for Center Director or other applicable staff.

Facilitate professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.

Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provide regular feedback on performance.

Support volunteers, practicum students, and staff through modeling techniques that connect theory to practice.

May lead planning meetings with the teaching team.

May increase program visibility via daily schedule postings and announcements to families.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be an associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, with a minimum of 9 related credits or at least 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed program, and knowledge of child growth and development through one of the following: a) completion of a high school level 2-year career and technical education course in teacher education; b) a 3-credit college course in child or human growth and development; c) thirty hours of training in child growth and development from an accredited college or university or equivalent life experience and related work with same-age children.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Knowledge of current teaching methods, principles, and techniques.

Knowledge of curriculum development and application.

Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven track record of creative and artistic teaching strategies.

Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.

Ability to motivate members and manage behavior with patience.

Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

Ability to communicate with staff, families, and community members in a variety of methods.

Must adhere to the Club dress code appropriate to duties and responsibilities.

Must be willing to adapt to different learning styles.

Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications per licensing requirements.

May be required to drive the Club van/short bus periodically.

Must possess a safe driving record and provide documentation to the appropriate department.

Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club.

Must maintain confidentiality.

Must be willing to travel between locations when requested (occasional travel).

Additional Expectations

All candidates offered a job will submit to FBI fingerprint background checks and additional state and company background checks. The organization reserves the right to determine employment status if disqualifying findings occur.
