Overview
As a Certified Nurse Midwife at Concord OB/GYN, the CNM provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to women throughout all stages of life from pregnancy and childbirth, through menopause, and beyond. This role combines advanced clinical expertise with compassionate support, empowering patients through education, advocacy, and personalized care. The CNM collaborates closely with physicians and the broader care team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and holistic care for every patient.
Key Responsibilities: Full-scope practitioner providing antenatal, intrapartum, and post-partum care. Provide patient education on birth options, procedures, treatments, and preventative care. Shared decision-making with patient and families. Monitor fetal growth, maternal health, and treat health conditions that arise during pregnancy. Attend in-hospital births, labor & delivery at Emerson Hospital’s Clough Birthing Center. Perform low-intervention techniques to induce labor or relieve pain during labor. Collaborate with providers to facilitate timely interventions as needed during pregnancy or childbirth. Monitor pregnant and postpartum patients (labs, ultrasounds, results, follow-up needs). Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the EMR system. Assist mothers with breastfeeding, self-care, and postpartum healthcare. Evaluate and develop treatment plans for patients. Write prescriptions. Order and review lab tests. Perform obstetric and gynecology physical exams. Adhere to HIPAA, infection control, and regulatory guidelines. Serve as a knowledgeable clinical resource for staff, providing guidance, support, and clarification on policies, procedures, and best practices.
Key Expectations: Labor & Delivery/Post-Partum CNM will arrive at 7:00 am on Labor and Delivery for sign out. CNM will be first call on pager; physician will take call from the Emergency Department at 7:00 pm. CNM will admit inductions scheduled for that day or that evening. CNM will triage ANAs and non-stress tests scheduled for that day. CNM will round on post-partum patients. CNM will alert MD of any circumcisions. CNM will co-manage high risk labor patients with physicians.
Call Schedule CNMs will cover 1/6 call when schedule permits. CNMs will be scheduled for a day off after every call shift. CNMs cover every weekend (24 hour shifts). Each CNM will be scheduled for one Saturday and one Sunday per month.
Office Schedule CNM will be scheduled for 16 to 32 hours in the office/clinical setting seeing OB and GYN patients depending on the vacation and call schedule.
Qualifications Required Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited degree program. Board Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). Ability to successfully pass an employment background check and Office of Inspector General (OIG) exclusion check. Accepting experienced CNMs. New grads are also encouraged to apply. Preferred Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and patient education abilities. Experience with EMR systems; Epic experience a plus.
