Inventory Specialist – Automotive Parts Warehouse

Position Summary
We are seeking a
detail-oriented and highly organized Inventory Specialist
to manage and maintain accurate inventory records in our automotive parts warehouse. This role is essential to ensuring that every part—from spark plugs to transmissions—is accounted for, properly stored, and easily accessible. The ideal candidate is passionate about organization, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong understanding of automotive components.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain
accurate inventory records
using our Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring real-time updates for all automotive parts.
Verify that parts are stored in their
correct bin locations , with clear labeling and categorization by part number, make, model, and compatibility.
Conduct
quarterly full inventory counts
and assist with weekly cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
Assist with
receiving shipments , verifying part numbers and quantities against purchase orders.
Ensure all parts are
stored safely and logically , minimizing damage and optimizing retrieval efficiency.
Investigate and resolve
inventory discrepancies , including mislabeling, misplaced items, or damaged goods.
Collaborate with purchasing, service, and sales departments to ensure inventory supports operational needs.
Monitor stock levels and flag
critical shortages or overstock situations .
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse layout tailored to automotive parts handling.
Required Skills & Attributes
Obsessive about organization —you know that the right part in the wrong place is still the wrong part.
Detail-oriented —you can spot a mislabeled part or incorrect SKU instantly.
Strong communication skills —you can clearly explain inventory issues to technicians, buyers, and managers.
Problem solver and investigator —you dig into discrepancies and find root causes.
Able to multi-task
and manage competing priorities effectively.
Self-motivated
and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Prioritization skills —you know which parts are critical to operations and act accordingly.
Familiarity with automotive parts catalogs, part numbers, and compatibility systems (e.g., OEM vs aftermarket).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in automotive technology, logistics, or related field .
Experience with WMS platforms and barcode scanning systems.
Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
Working Conditions
Warehouse environment with moderate physical activity (lifting, walking, standing).
May require handling heavy or bulky automotive parts.
