Bay Disposal is seeking a dedicated and safety-oriented CDL Driver to join our team at the Hauling location in Norfolk, VA.
If you have experience in the waste industry, that’s a significant advantage!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste. Experience in the waste industry is preferred, but not mandatory.
Read route sheets and ensure service for each customer identified or assigned by the dispatcher.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Perform physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading waste independently at times.
Utilize hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Engage courteously with customers and carry out other job-related duties as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
This role entails extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment may present some physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, necessitating adherence to safety precautions.
Workers will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including humidity, as well as fumes and vibrations, with a usually moderate noise level.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement is required at a minimum.
At least 2 years of experience in a driver position with a stable work history is preferred.
Must be capable of lifting 50+ pounds.
Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions is essential.
