Material Handler
Reports To:
Material Handler Manager
Purpose:
A Material Handler orders and does manual confirmations of materials for production orders as it comes through production. Verifies materials and supplies coming into their locations from vendors and warehouses. Maintain inventory in their own work centers as it comes in and out by placing reservations and doing cycle counts. Help maintain the Bom with parts that are not pulling correctly to help get a more efficient cost on units.
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
Planning and Operational Duties Reports and queries for production and/or vendors Sales Order changes, deviations and substitutions communicated throughout their area. Review emails relating to changes in master data that are pertinent to their area. Review Obsolete Parts List (weekly) and respond as needed if stock exists in area. Review Material Adjustment Report (weekly) respond to questions as needed. Review Inventory Reports (monthly) and investigate issues. Maintain Reservation Templates for Warehouse and/or Tool Room and updated as needed. Communicate with Engineering on design changes, materials required, drawing updates, etc. Organize stock in each storage location area and assign "bin" identifier in SAP as needed. Production Execution Duties
Confirm operations in each order as production is completed throughout the day.
Communicate & document discrepancies in order data (components, etc.) Create a Request for Engineering Services (RES) for the item as needed.
Update and resolve goods movement errors in COGI (daily) as they occur. Facilitate and communicate rework and/or parts shortages to be installed later with production. Ensure that goods are issued to orders that are physically installed in them. Goods Receipts and Stock Transfer Duties
Create Warehouse and Tool Room reservations per requirements of the area. Verify and receive Travelers into stock upon each delivery from the warehouse.
Track shortages and hot orders as needed. Update reservations due to over-picking from the warehouse Follow-up activities due to missing or late travelers
Verify and receive Purchase Orders items into stock upon delivery.
Communicate discrepancies with Purchasing agent, notify of substitutions, etc. Turn in paperwork (STO/Packing Slip) to Accounting - sign, date, and material doc# Correct any receiving testing failures from Accounting department
Transfer stock to other areas/plants as needed. Ensure that all material movements that happen correspond to movements in SAP. Create inventory for parts that are cut at laser and sent to vendor or to stock the floors/PO's. Create Production orders on cut parts. Transfer to Vendor in MIGO Confirm Chassis to unit and install paperwork. Create Manual Purchase Requisitions to Brooke Carnes & Holly Holt for materials not kept in Tool Room - ME51N Inventory Management and Cycle Counting Duties
Tasks relating to organizing, counting, and entering/posting counts for Inventory (twice/yearly)
Count sheets created in SAP by I.T. department prior to the count date. Bulk Inventory sheets maintained on P: Drive (add new/delete obsolete parts) Perform regular cycle counts of materials based on: Cycle Count Indicator assigned to each material (per its value), or By request from warehouse in response to a material shortage
Block stock of materials that cannot be used or that is designated for a specific purpose. Process stock of damaged or defective materials using the appropriate movement types Request Authorization for Disposal of Obsolete Inventory Scan each count sheet and save on P: Drive by Material Doc# Scan each STO and save on P: Drive by order # Other roles may vary:
Some Material Handlers must pull parts for production. Some load trucks for vendors. Take care of Tool Parts and cabinets stocked. Requirements:
Lift and/or pull 25-50 pounds (weight can be modified) Work in a fast pace repetitive environment-climbing, walking, twisting, etc. Willing to adhere to all safety guidelines and standards. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make deadlines. Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; self-motivated; well organized. Dexterity and attention to detail Ability to read prints. Work in Excel (very beneficial) Ability to type and some computer knowledge. Operating machinery such as forklifts (as needed) Production Plant experience (very beneficial)
