Overview
The Material Handler A- Receiving is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming shipments of raw materials, parts, and equipment. This role ensures that all incoming items meet quality and quantity requirements and are accurately documented and stored in the appropriate locations. The Receiving Clerk plays a vital role in supporting production efficiency and maintaining inventory accuracy in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices. Inspect materials for damage, quality, and accuracy upon arrival. Document and enter received items into the inventory management system (ERP). Tag, label, and move received items to designated storage or production areas. Communicate any discrepancies or damaged goods to purchasing department or quality control. Collaborate with production, inventory, and shipping departments to ensure timely flow of materials. Maintain clean, organized receiving and staging areas. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment as needed. Assist with cycle counts and periodic inventory audits. Prepare documentation and work with purchasing and shipping supervisor/manager for sending out Sub Work Prepare documentation for scrap trailers as well as calling in the vendor when containers are full Work with accounting on non-inventory purchase orders so they can be processed for payment. Comply with all safety procedures and company policies. Under general direction of the Traffic Manager. Responsible for receiving material in a safe manner while maintaining and promoting a safe working environment and practicing good housekeeping. Relies on experience and technical judgment to accomplish goals.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse, receiving, or manufacturing environment preferred. Familiarity with inventory software and ERP systems (e.g., EPICOR, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Basic math, data entry, and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate material handling equipment safely. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Forklift certification required
