GCA is seeking six (6) Senior Telecommunications Network Engineers to provide on-site support for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Information Operations, Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), Network & Telecommunications Services (NTS), Local Area Network Branch (NTS-LAN). The NTS-LAN operates enterprise-wide across multiple DLA locations. This contract supports wired and wireless LAN functions by providing advanced skills and expertise in telecommunications engineering and operational support for both current and emerging LAN technologies.

Work Location

This position is on-site at designated DLA facilities (e.g., Columbus, OH; New Cumberland, PA; Battle Creek, MI; Richmond, VA; and Fort Belvoir, VA).

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate the ability to work independently, or under general direction, on requirements that are moderately complex to analyze, plan, program, and implement. Make recommendations, when needed, for approval of major network installations. Closely coordinate with other information system professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services. In conjunction with functional users, develop alternative solutions and backup plans. Provide technical and administrative direction for personnel responsible for telecommunications network design, implementation, and operations tasks, including reviewing work products for accuracy, adherence to design concepts, compliance with user standards, and progress according to established schedules.

Experience in telecommunications network design and management

Experience in the analysis and design of voice networks, LAN and WAN data networks, wireless networks, and/or network management systems to support voice and data services

Experience with complex applications involving all phases of telecommunications network design, implementation, and analysis, as well as experience managing those activities

Experience managing the evaluation and cost estimation of voice and data WAN services from telecommunications carriers, designing access and backbone networks using carrier services, or managing the analysis and design of wireless voice or data networks (using private radio facilities or commercial services)

Analyze and develop telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services

Analyze problems and characteristics of the information to be transported

Define network problems and develop corresponding system requirements and specifications

Deliverables

Prepare milestone status reports and deliver presentations on network progress to colleagues, subordinates, and end-user representatives

Develop designs and plans for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems from project inception through completion

Minimum Requirements

Seven (7) years of Network Operations experience (a Bachelor’s degree or Military Service may account for two of those years)

Sensitivity Level: IT-I – Critical Sensitive

Clearance: Secret (TS preferred)

DoD Approved 8570/8140 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II

Computing Environment Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, BPIPA, CCIE, CCSPA, or SCNA

Current Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) certification
