The Opportunity
CoinDesk Indices is looking for a highly motivated and analytical
Index Product Specialist
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a product expert with a deep understanding of index methodologies, data analysis, and the financial markets. This role is a key bridge between quantitative research, technology, and business development, focusing on the entire product lifecycle from ideation and definition to ongoing analysis and enhancement. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong ability to translate complex data into clear requirements, and a passion for creating innovative and robust financial products.
What You'll Do: Translate high-level index concepts into detailed, precise product specifications and business requirements documents (BRDs).
Formulate and document the rules, data inputs, and calculation logic for new indices, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to industry standards.
Collaborate with legal & compliance teams to ensure all product definitions meet regulatory requirements.
Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, including market data, corporate actions, and constituent-level data, to support index back-testing and simulation.
Analyze the impact of different data inputs and rules on index performance, characteristics, and turnover.
Perform rigorous quality assurance and validation of index calculations and data outputs.
Identify and troubleshoot data anomalies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the index data.
Serve as the primary liaison between the sales and index operations teams, translating product definitions into clear, actionable requirements.
Manage the product backlog for new index initiatives and enhancements, prioritizing features based on business value and strategic goals.
Review and approve user stories, test cases, and technical specifications to ensure they align with the original product vision.
Create and maintain product documentation, including fact sheets, methodology documents, and presentation materials.
Present index concepts, analysis, and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes in the index and ETF landscape.
Analyze the competitive positioning of our products and identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
What You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a quantitative field.
4+ years of experience in a product management, product specialist, or data analysis role within the financial services industry.
Demonstrable experience with index-based products (ETFs, mutual funds, or structured products).
Strong analytical & quantitative skills with a solid understanding of financial data & market dynamics.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages (e.g., Python, SQL, R, or similar).
Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas for a wide range of audiences.
Bullish US LLC & CoinDesk Inc. are committed to offering competitive compensation and benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $155,000 - $185,000 + discretionary annual target bonus + performance incentives/benefits. Offered salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and commensurate experience.
