Program : SFILEN
Reports to : Program Manager
Compensation : $57,000 non‑exempt position Full‑Time. Position Overview Mission Action seeks a full‑time Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator to develop and support the volunteer and community engagement structure for our Rapid Response Hotline. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with experience in volunteer coordination, training, and community organizing. Strong collaboration, organizational skills, and fluency in Spanish (preferred) are essential.
Key Responsibilities Volunteer Engagement
Recruitment & Outreach
Identify and develop volunteer opportunities.
Build strategic recruitment channels with community organizations, nonprofits, faith partners, and other stakeholders.
Conduct screenings and brief conversations to ensure volunteer fit and alignment with program needs.
Onboarding & Training
Develop and deliver comprehensive orientation programs.
Provide training materials and ensure volunteers are equipped for tasks such as documentation, verification, and accompaniment.
Facilitate access to trainings and maintain volunteer platforms and databases.
Scheduling & Coordination
Manage volunteer schedules and coordinate logistics for activities in partnership with legal and outreach teams.
Communicate important updates and ensure smooth execution of volunteer programs.
Volunteer Placement & Recognition
Ensure volunteers stay informed on political and immigration‑related developments.
Implement recognition programs to acknowledge and celebrate volunteer contributions.
Data Management
Maintain accurate volunteer records, track participation and hours, and generate reports to assess program impact.
Relationship Building & Leadership Development
Cultivate relationships with volunteers, community leaders, and partner organizations.
Identify potential volunteer leaders and provide growth opportunities.
Community & Media Relations
Content Creation & Social Media
Develop and manage content for social media, blogs, and informational materials related to Hotline activity, ICE enforcement, and community engagement.
Create compelling visuals, infographics, and digital media to mobilize community support.
Media & Public Relations
Manage media inquiries, draft press releases, and coordinate interviews.
Provide accurate public updates on Hotline activity and local immigration issues.
Community Engagement & Data Analysis
Track key engagement metrics (e.g., website traffic, social media reach, event attendance).
Analyze community outreach effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, social sciences, nonprofit management, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
Experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, or training.
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Familiarity with volunteer management software and databases is a plus.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
