Program Assistant - MSROC
Mission Action
Compensation: $23-$25 per hour, Full‑Time non‑exempt. About the Organization Mission Action nurtures individual wellness and cultivates collective power among low‑income and immigrant communities to create a more just society. Its work spans advocacy and community organizing, addressing homelessness, affordable housing, and immigrant rights.
Program and Position Summary The Mission SRO Collaborative (MSROC) works to improve living conditions and empower tenants in SRO hotels in the Mission District of San Francisco. The Tenant Rights Program Assistant provides general administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient MSROC operations, assisting the Program Manager and supporting tenant leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Support program with administrative work, such as making flyers, inputting data, and organizing outreach and training materials.
Prepare and organize tenant events and holiday parties.
Support the team with coordination, preparation, and facilitation of monthly tenant meetings.
Contact tenant leaders for meetings and events.
Conduct outreach in SROs in the Mission.
Support and lead tenant volunteer phonebank and outreach shifts.
Other Organizational Duties
Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.
Commit to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including various high‑need populations.
Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends.
Commitment to social justice issues, and familiarity with MSROC and DSCS mission and work.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi‑task and prioritize work; administrative or assistant experience preferred.
Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual Spanish/English, spoken and written preferred.
Basic computer knowledge, ability to use Windows and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of or ability to be trained on database software.
