Full time/ Permanent Shift Timing : Days – No Weekends, Admin Hours Relocation : Case by Case Strong Bonus Structure: 25% of Base Annually, plus Multiplier of Up To 200% Payment if Meeting Goal
Summary: This role will serve as a leadership role created to lead and support key strategic partnerships, initiatives and external engagements. This will create value by working closely with the pharmacy GPO leadership team, membership and external 3 rd parties to find and create shared value. Will provide leadership, strategy and expertise to help create, develop and optimize strategic partnerships. Specific example areas include, specialty GPO services, services/technology partnerships, strategic consulting engagements, and certain supplier relationships
What you will do in this role includes: Provides leadership in key strategic initiatives and relations as determined by the VP of Pharmacy and senior leadership. Assimilates information from variety of sources, able to analyze and interpret financial data, make recommendations and execute a course of action for pharmaceutical savings opportunities and contract load issues Leads, mentors and develops pharmacy team members
Specialty Program
Assist the VP of Pharmacy by leading the day-to-day optimization of our specialty GPO pharmacy program Work closely with specialty GPO partners to provide guidance, insight and program success Coordinate with internal teams- sourcing, account management and PBM to understand changes to the business and how those impact the specialty program Provide leadership support in issue resolution with various stakeholders Support creation of analytics to ensure program optimization Support onboarding of new members for Specialty program
Consulting
When needed leads/participates in key client engagements at a senior level Defines a vision, identifies milestones of success, identifies gaps, determines with whom to work and partner and sets actionable goals that are consistently achieved Manages projects within scope, time and budget Leads client discussions and meetings to present analysis and facilitate client decision making Meets and builds relationships with senior executives (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.) by presenting and discussing industry trends, best in class strategies and gaining buy-in for consulting services Supports organizational growth and maturation of services Provides market feedback to identify improvements to current solution offerings Participates in sales pursuits and provides input into presentation materials developed to support the sales and marketing process Interfaces with Marketing to develop and maintain go-to-market collateral (e.g. white papers, case studies) related to services Identifies internal operational improvement opportunities
Financial
Interpret, analyze and summarize key financial performance information from members, suppliers and internal teams Leverage key financial metrics to identify opportunities, measure progress and provide recommendations for improvement Collaborate with internal and external teams to track and analyze financial data which may include but not limited to pharmacy services supply expense Provide support to the audit team as needed and when related to job duties Utilize software skills with programs such as excel, power Bi, and other platforms to consume and analyze data
Project Management
Directs multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes: Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management Leads cross functional working groups Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects Develops milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved that includes facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation Assign goals to direct reports as appropriate and monitors goal achievement
General Knowledge/Competencies
Must have general and broad knowledge of concepts related to pharmacy services Provides effective communication which includes verbal, listening, writing, and presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff Demonstrates ability to work in a professional, multi-disciplinary, matrix reporting team as a group leader, facilitator, or participant Analytical, problem solving, persuasive ability to develop and implement strategic plans Professional Growth / Continuing Education Maintains/obtains professional competence and knowledge of current clinical practices, technology, and equipment/products. Maintains/obtains professional competence and knowledge of current management and consultative practices. Maintains/obtains professional competence and knowledge of healthcare economics, managed care/reimbursement issues in the industry. Attends national/professional society meetings as needed and related to current healthcare practice. Keeps current in key healthcare literature through journals, books, Internet. Potentially supervises a team of resources to include: Sr. Directors, Directors, Managers, pharmacy residents, pharmacy students, and analysts
What qualifications you will need:
A Pharmacist degree (PharmD, RPh) is required. Residency or fellowship training and/or board certification is preferred. Minimum of ten years progressive acute care pharmacy leadership experience Minimum of 8 years’ experience in pharmacy supply expense management, consulting or GPOs Strong preference for experience with Non-acute Pharmacy or Specialty pharmacy Active Pharmacy licensure in good standing
Additional Information: Reports to VP Pharmacy FTEs: 2 Direct Reports - Sr. Directors Candidate will sit in office in Nashville, TN. No Hybrid/Remote Work Some Travel Required, 10-15% Candidate must have provider background, pharmacy leadership in a health system - not necessarily acute, but large healthcare or GPO. Prefers health system leadership experience (physician clinics, home infusion, managed care, specialty pharmacy) Will consider a very experience non-PharmD, but must be a pharmacist Candidate will be involved in non-acute expansion, supplier interaction - involved in negotiations and supporting the sourcing team. There will be lots of day-to-day internal business operations work
