Overview

The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is the research lab for Lockheed Martin Space. We perform research, development, analysis, and modeling and simulation of Electro-Optical (EO) Infrared (IR) phenomena to understand system-level implications, analyze missions, and enable cutting-edge technologies with real-world impact. You will participate on teams to develop new and novel system architectures and evaluate performance of existing architectures. We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our extraordinary team. Responsibilities

Perform research, development, analysis, and modeling and simulation of EO/IR phenomena. Apply research to understand system-level implications, analyze new missions, and enable cutting-edge technologies. Participate on teams implementing understanding to develop new architectures and evaluate performance of existing architectures. Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in physics, applied physics, applied mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated knowledge in a scientific/engineering discipline related to remote sensing, electromagnetic observables, infrared phenomenology, or modeling & simulation of physical systems. Ability to communicate complex ideas to audiences of both experts and non-experts. US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Desired Skills

Strong technical writing, presentation, and overall communication skills for reports, proposals, technical presentations, and interaction with customers and collaborators. Experience supporting Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) projects and missions. Scientific data visualization and data exploitation; electromagnetics phenomenology including target signatures and multi/hyperspectral phenomenology. In-depth understanding of radiometry; experience in remote sensing, atmospheric attenuation and propagation, scene modeling, and technical intelligence concerns. EOIR sensor system experience including performance modeling, system development, focal plane array physics, requirements generation, signal processing. Mathematical modeling of physical systems; proficient in Linux; proficient with Matlab or Python. Machine learning, deep learning, AI, and other advanced processing techniques. Current TS/SCI clearance. Security and Work Information
