We’re seeking a
director of marketing technology —a visionary product and engineering leader with deep expertise in marketing platforms, a passion for engineering excellence, and the ability to inspire teams to deliver transformative solutions.
This role leads the strategy, delivery, and support of marketing technology solutions that drive customer engagement and business growth. You’ll collaborate across functions to define a technology roadmap aligned with Starbucks’ marketing objectives, while fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional engineering and product teams supporting customer segmentation, campaign automation, offer management, and content platforms.
Partner with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals and drive measurable outcomes.
Define and communicate the vision and roadmap for marketing technology and enterprise architecture.
Anticipate future technology needs and guide strategic planning accordingly.
Process & Technical Leadership
Collaborate with product and program leaders on annual planning, estimation, and prioritization of initiatives.
Guide technical product management in defining roadmaps, program requirements, and measurable outcomes.
Lead vendor strategy and manage a portfolio of partners to ensure operational excellence and cost efficiency.
Oversee budget forecasting, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
Drive cross-functional collaboration through effective communication, risk management, and change leadership.
Champion process improvements that enhance delivery maturity and execution efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
Inspire and develop high-performing teams of engineers, managers, and product professionals.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Provide coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities aligned with Starbucks values.
Promote inclusive leadership and model positive, engaging behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years leading engineering teams in high‑scale environments.
Expertise in marketing platforms, especially Adobe Marketing Suite.
Experience with:
Microservices architecture running at very high requests/sec (10K/sec)
Cloud‑native application development
High‑volume distributed systems
Data lakes and warehousing
Proven success in enterprise product management and software delivery.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with distributed, cross‑functional teams.
