Duties

Review physician's orders written during the shift and assists on clarification of orders if necessary.

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on physician's medical care plan and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.

Provide direct supervision for registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, licensed psychiatric technicians, mental health workers, medical support assistants.

Administer oxygen and prescribed oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary group to formulate plans of care that are individualized and in accordance with accepted standards

Requirements

Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

A pre-placement medical examination is required.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Current employees with AHA certification will remain valid until expiration.

Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges

May require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
