This position is located in the Directorate of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Responsibilities
Provide first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and adults according to current standards of care. Teach and provide consultation to other health care providers as assigned. Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and quality assurance activities as assigned. Complete required records pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations. Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation including a credit check is required. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. Applicant will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. This position requires a pre-placement medical examination. This position requires moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds. Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced Life Support certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position is subject to irregular work schedule and may require on-call duties evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position may require travel up to 5% of the time. Inclement Weather Essential Position (the incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. This position requires Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment. This position requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment. This position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
