The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented, hard-working, and highly organized Senior Project Engineer with extensive engineering and project management experience to join our team. The Senior Project Engineer will support the successful late-stage development and construction of a portfolio of more than 1,000 MWs of utility-scale solar and storage capacity in Puerto Rico, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality across all phases of development and construction.

This position is remote with on-site presence required in Puerto Rico as needed to ensure effective project delivery. A relocation package could be considered.

Responsibilities

Support Coquí Power in managing all phases of utility-scale solar and storage projects in Puerto Rico, alignment with strategic goals and compliance with local regulations and environmental conditions

Coordinate with EPC contractors and subcontractors across engineering, procurement, construction, technology, and operations and maintenance (O&M) to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery and performance

Optimize project development and delivery through coordinating design reviews, constructability assessments, and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle

Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, schedules, and KPIs to senior leadership

Prepare accurate and timely documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements

Support procurement and contract management, including vendor evaluation, selection, negotiation, and risk mitigation

Assist in developing post-construction O&M plans to ensure long‑term asset reliability and performance

Provide technical and commercial insight to support development and M&A activities, contributing your expertise to facilitate successful ventures and growth opportunities

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required

Eight plus (8+) years of experience in engineering or construction project management for utility‑scale energy generation and storage projects

Hands‑on experience across the full EPC lifecycle, including feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and O&M planning

Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor evaluation and selection, contract negotiation, and risk assessment

Proven ability to manage project financials, schedules, estimates, and contractor performance

Detail‑oriented with proficiency in project planning software and reporting tools

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with fluency in both English and Spanish to enable effective collaboration and communication with stakeholders

Deep expertise in solar and storage projects required, with additional exposure to thermal / natural gas projects considered ideal. Knowledge in green hydrogen or geothermal a valuable bonus

Experience working in Puerto Rico and familiarity with high wind speed design requirements

Active participation in professional organizations and ongoing professional development is encouraged
