Overview

Instructional Designer/Technologist position with Arizona State University, W. P. Carey School of Business. Full-time role focused on instructional design and technology-enabled course development for online and hybrid modalities within the Department of Finance.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively in a team environment to support WPC’s immersion and fully online programs and courses. Collaborate with faculty and faculty teams to prepare courses for student success using design templates and standard operating procedures. Design, develop and deliver online course content, materials, interactive and multimedia components, and other support materials, ensuring flexibility and reusability across modalities. Coordinate production of instructional materials with subject matter experts, graphic artists and multimedia developers; consult with clients on course design projects. Provide technology support for faculty, students and staff using digitally-enhanced teaching and learning products; support myASU/Canvas portal and course management system. Provide consultation for faculty in instructional design of online curricula. Develop and maintain online web-based resources such as tutorials, design standards, templates and tools for instructional development. Collaborate with developers on editing, reviewing and evaluating course content; assist with embedding and formatting learning objects; perform quality assurance testing for courses and post-production work. Apply learning theory and instructional design methodologies using appropriate technology to develop courses and content. Stay current with technology directions and trends; recommend best practices for teaching and learning theory and instructional technologies. Communicate best practices and facilitate awareness of instructional-technology events and resources to faculty. Assess training needs for instructional technology within departments and develop plans; coordinate and expand faculty training and workshop offerings. Design, develop and implement evaluation procedures to assess the effectiveness of course designs and technologies. Utilize software tools for web page development, desktop publishing, video editing and presentations to meet user needs. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in instructional design/related area; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training. Preferred/Desired Qualifications

Experience in higher education; knowledge of instructional design theory and methods; experience designing, developing, implementing and revising online courses. Familiarity with Quality Matters or similar design metrics; experience creating job aids, online tutorials and multimedia content. Experience with Canvas or similar LMS; knowledge of HTML and HTML editors; ability to write, proofread and edit instructional materials. Project management experience and ability to manage timelines, milestones and deliverables. Experience in researching and resolving technology issues; applying learning theories to online/hybrid course design; experience with audio/video recording and editing for online instruction. Working Environment and Location

Position located in Tempe, AZ; not remote. Environmental requirements include typical office duties with some sitting, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional flexibility in prioritizing tasks. Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $55,000 – $72,000 annually, dependent on experience. Max pay may be $72,000. Benefits details available per ASU policy. Application Instructions
