Position Summary The Research Integrity Program Manager is a professional staff member in the division of Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) at Portland State University (PSU). The role manages federally‑required compliance programs for research activities, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and the Human Research Protection Program and Biosafety Program. The Manager provides regulatory oversight, informs policy development, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The position reports to the Director of Research Integrity and Compliance Programs.
Responsibilities
Manage multiple research compliance programs and review committees, such as IRB, IACUC, and IBC.
Conduct regulatory compliance reviews and determinations for university research.
Interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies to research activities.
Develop and implement policy, procedures, and guidance documents related to research integrity and compliance.
Provide expert advice and training to faculty, staff, and external partners on research ethics and compliance requirements.
Negotiate and manage collaborative agreements with external research partner institutions.
Maintain and update compliance databases and reporting systems.
Ensure timely issuance of compliance approvals and maintain accurate records.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS with 4‑6 years of experience in research integrity or research administration, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of related experience.
Working knowledge of research ethics and compliance regulations.
Experience using multiple resources to understand complex regulations and plan multi‑phase projects.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong customer‑service orientation.
Experience with research software, database systems, and developing forms/processes.
Experience drafting policy, procedures, and guidance documents for research integrity and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Broad knowledge of overall research administration in a university environment.
Experience interpreting regulations and applying them to research activities.
Professional experience providing administrative support to faculty committees.
Experience maintaining confidentiality and formal documentation.
Strong reasoning and problem‑solving skills, making effective decisions and recommendations.
Familiarity with updating webpages.

Salary and Benefits Salary range: $65,544 – $81,054 (negotiable)
