Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to support Con Edison’s Overhead & Underground Transmission team in New York City. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in high-voltage transmission systems while working closely with senior engineers on critical infrastructure projects. The role offers exposure to fieldwork, technical calculations, and utility operations, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in engineering efforts related to underground transmission feeders, including systems rated at 600kV+.
Shadow and support lead engineers across multiple active projects.
Participate in route selection and planning for transmission lines.
Perform basic electrical calculations, such as:
Cable pulling
Load system ratings
Voltage drop and conductor sizing
Interpret and review technical drawings, sketches, and schematics.
Support the preparation and management of project documentation.
Conduct site visits and gain exposure to field operations.
Learn and potentially use AutoCAD or similar drafting tools (preferred but not required).

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
1–3 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering or utility work.
Coursework or internship experience in power systems.
Interest in fieldwork and hands-on engineering.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Familiarity with high-voltage transmission systems.
Exposure to drafting software such as AutoCAD.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Eagerness to grow within a utility engineering environment.
