Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD)
supports aircraft worldwide, providing primary and secondary flight control systems for military and commercial aircraft. MFCD’s electrohydraulic servovalve (EHSV) technology is used globally and the division is headquartered in Irvine, California.

Core Responsibilities • Determines the methods and sequence of manufacturing operations for intricate and/or complex products and machine parts and assemblies.
• Provides produce‑ability input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification.
• Evaluates complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from operators and production technicians.
• Develops complex manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; and conferring with equipment suppliers.
• Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high‑impact areas of production, and may lead special projects for a variety of products and processes.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and establishing and implementing “design for manufacture and assembly” plans.
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.
• Recommends and implements changes to manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state‑of‑the‑art practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements (e.g., environmental, building code, safety) and advises management on needed actions.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field required. Six or more years of increasingly responsible related experience. Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) certification desired.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, principles, and techniques; broad knowledge of aerospace or similar industry products; ability to implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles; understanding of statistical process control; familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants; proficiency with standard business applications software; experience with CAD/CAM systems or other computer‑aided manufacturing systems; and strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
