Trueline’s client, a well respected manufacturing organization, is seeking a
Purchasing/Inventory Control Specialist
to join their team in Biddeford. In this role you’ll be responsible for managing purchasing and inventory operations to ensure materials are in place for production, and you’ll play a key role in job planning, release and parts kitting processes.
What You’ll Do as the Purchasing/Inventory Control Specialist:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers; source, negotiate and place purchase orders, then follow up to guarantee on time delivery.
Support engineering during the quotation process by identifying appropriate material sources and managing the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
Monitor and alert the team to any supply chain or material issues and maintain the RTV (return to vendor) log.
Enter jobs into the ERP system (Vista/Omnis/E2), review and release work orders to production, and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for all jobs.
Issue and return inventory transactions, execute cycle counts, and ensure inventory accuracy to support production scheduling.
Coordinate shipping/receiving of goods and spare parts: receive, verify, record and manage inbound supplies and outbound parts shipments.
Read job specifications to determine production kitting requirements and assist with service/spare parts sales as needed.
Perform additional related duties as needed to support the division’s goals.
Must Haves as the Purchasing/Inventory Control Specialist:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education a plus).
Previous purchasing and inventory control experience in a manufacturing, job shop or asset management environment.
Ability to interpret work orders/travelers and identify material/part types.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Comfortable working in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Vista/Omnis/E2) and performing inventory transactions, cycle counts, and job release activities.
Ability to stand or sit for 8–10 hours per day, walk/stoop occasionally, and lift/move items up to 25 pounds when on the production floor.
Must be able to use required PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes) when on the production floor.
Nice to Haves as the Purchasing/Inventory Control Specialist:
Some college coursework in supply chain, logistics or a related area.
Experience negotiating with suppliers to reduce cost or improve delivery.
Familiarity with kitting for production builds and managing spare parts sales.
Knowledge of advanced inventory strategies such as lean, kanban or continuous improvement initiatives.
