Overview

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for leading the development strategies that optimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for a group of materials and/or services and for leading strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management activities. This role interacts with Executive Leadership (both internal and external), operations, and relevant stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment. The person will lead initiatives to identify opportunities for savings/value creation and recommend changes to drive higher performance for the organization. This role requires analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to lead/influence a team to drive on-time completion of projects. Posting date information: Start Date 08/25/2025. Responsibilities Lead cross-functional teams on project-based initiatives to develop and implement key elements of the category strategy (supply market analysis, contract, supplier performance).

Establish, maintain, and communicate business requirements, the importance of required materials and services, and process improvement methods to support Supply Chain initiatives.

Identify strategies to support dynamic business needs and obtain internal stakeholder buy-in across all levels of the organization.

Perform assessments for the goods and/or services being evaluated; develop detailed supply market analyses; perform value chain analyses; and construct cost models to facilitate long-term management of spend.

Optimize the total cost of the product or service by leveraging spend across business units, forming key supplier alliances, consolidating the supplier base, and driving efficiencies within the supply chain.

Develop negotiation strategies by identifying and quantifying gives, takes, and best alternatives; coordinate the preparation and execution of commercial agreements to mitigate risk between AAON and its supplier.

Identify and monitor leading supply market indicators to proactively adjust category strategies, negotiate/re-negotiate commercial agreements, and mitigate supply risk.

Work with key stakeholders and suppliers to create accurate service/material forecasts needed to ensure alignment with category strategies.

Drive supplier performance management through measurement of KPIs, communication of operational performance, and identification of areas for improvement.

Qualifications Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field and ten years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or general supply chain leadership within various industries. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

In-depth knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing processes, procedures & practices; experience executing multiple large contracts or commercial negotiations.

HVAC manufacturing experience with specific planning and supply chain activities related to drilling, completion, or production is preferred.

Proven track record applying complex category management techniques, including supply market analysis, TCO principles, and strategy development.

Working knowledge of evaluation modeling, including cost/benefit and present value analysis.

In-depth Excel knowledge and experience.

Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
