Position Summary The Production Planner II will create the Production schedule for one or many Value Stream area(s) to best satisfy current and forecasted demand, while meeting business objectives of safety, quality, on‑time delivery, competitive customer lead times, profitability, and inventory. The role supports daily management activities to ensure commitments are achieved, communicates order status to customer service, and ensures project management teams are supported. It requires accomplishing all within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer‑driven innovation and a win‑first culture, while meeting financial and performance metrics.
Principle Responsibilities
Understand and utilize MRP and how master data drives material requirement planning.
Plan all operations from receipt of purchase orders through shipping of product.
Assist the purchasing department with outsourcing processes.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet and exceed inventory targets and turns; seek opportunities to reduce inventory through techniques such as lot size optimization, off‑the‑shelf vs. MTO analysis, Kanban, etc.
Understand re‑order points and safety stock formulas and their impact on various calculations.
Create a production plan, understand level loading, capacity planning, sequential and concurrent scheduling to maximize production efficiency while minimizing changeovers, downtime, and overtime.
Lead production planning meetings and communicate gaps between demand and capacity.
Collaborate with manufacturing to develop creative scheduling techniques and adjust resources to improve overall efficiency.
Optimize scheduling to ensure capacity is maximized and production orders are closed out on‑time.
Drive root‑cause analysis for missed shipments and implement corrective actions to sustain customer fill‑rate targets.
Proactively identify potential shortages against scheduled production orders and resolve them with the appropriate team.
Evaluate slow‑moving items and propose clean‑up, re‑work, obsolescence, changes to lot sizing, stock status, etc.
Move materials as necessary in performance of duties.
Communicate effectively both internally and externally at all levels.
Qualification Requirements
BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Supply Chain.
5+ years of experience within Planning and Procurement.
Experience with modern ERP systems.
Production scheduling to manage open orders and drive the production planning process.
Provides information to weekly SIOP meetings.
Well‑versed in MRP/MPS systems.
APICS or CPM certification a plus or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
Six Sigma certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
Advanced Microsoft skills, especially MS Excel, Pivot tables and ability to manipulate data quickly using advanced functions.
Application of LEAN concepts and understanding of Pull systems.
Excellent communication and follow‑up skills.
Advance Capacity Planning.
Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
