The Software Strategy Group provides investment guidance, strategy, value creation and transaction advisory for the software sector. Location

Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Boston Responsibilities

Lead workstreams and engagements, translating client needs into project tasks and deliverables. Manage problem-solving and drive the team’s analytical activities. Serve as the primary liaison between the engagement team, senior leaders and clients. Skills & Attributes for Success

Develop business strategies using financial analysis, customer research, forecasting and portfolio optimization. Analyze transaction rationale and prospective deal documents to identify critical business issues and risks. Identify value creation opportunities across functions of a software organization. Manage workstreams and break down complex problems for team collaboration. Motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Develop, manage and mentor junior team members. Qualifications

Outstanding academic performance with a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a graduate degree with approximately 18 months of related experience. Ability to assess industry, products, markets, competitors and customers to identify risks and opportunities. Proficient in English with strong written and verbal communication in a professional environment. Strong quantitative skills including the ability to model complex financials or markets. Effective organization and time management, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Residence in or commutable distance to the office location; SSG team members are in the office 3-4 days a week. Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours as needed for client and project needs. Preferred/Ideal Background

MBA or related graduate degree with at least 18 months of post-graduate consulting or tech-focused experience. Expertise in one or more software sectors (horizontal, vertical, infrastructure, or software-enabled services). Strong problem solving, project management, facilitation and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meaningful coursework or experience in CS, data science or engineering. Knowledge of firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot. What We Look For

Comprehensive compensation and benefits; base salary range in the US is $130,000 to $185,000, with consideration to education, experience, and location. Total Rewards includes medical/dental, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off. Hybrid work model: typical in-person collaboration 40-60% of the time over engagements.
