Responsibilities
Coordinate work projects with project managers to prioritize laboratory workload to meet client requirements.
Manage in-house projects for an assigned department to ensure on-time delivery and turnaround time requirements are met.
Release samples to laboratory personnel and communicate due dates and updated turnaround times.
Supervise analysts to maximize productivity and ensure testing procedures comply with quality assurance and standard operating procedures.
Communicate department issues and provide status reports to Lab Management and Project Managers.
Assist Department Manager in evaluating individual performance and providing ongoing feedback to lab personnel.
Ensure proper training of all new analysts and develop staff on skills, equipment, and procedures.
Prepare department reports as assigned by laboratory management and track department productivity.
May conduct department safety inspections to maintain EH&S requirements.
May assist with hiring decisions and stock/order supplies as needed.
May dispose of samples according to EH&S requirements and maintain a clean, safe work area.
Assist other laboratory departments as needed and prepare/analyze samples for analysis based on method requirements.
Review data produced in the assigned department and authorize its release; operate and maintain sophisticated instrumentation as required.
Create and update department standard operating procedures.
Qualifications Education/Experience
BS/BA in Chemistry or related field
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a laboratory setting
Professional working proficiency in English (read, write, speak)
Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship
Ideal Candidates will have experience with
Analytical and/or general science
Quality Assurance Plan and Laboratory SOPs
Laboratory safety rules and chemical hazards
Maintenance of laboratory instruments
Advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures
Supervisory and management skills; effective communication
Government contracting regulations; computer skills
Strong organizational and time management skills; problem solving
Ability to prioritize and complete work within time and quality constraints
Confront and resolve day-to-day and non-routine problems; plan, set, and attain goals
Additional Information Full-time position, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm , with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Tinley Park, IL are encouraged to apply.
Pay range: starting at $24.00 - $26.00/hr
