Electrical Commissioning Engineer $80,000 – $150,000 + Travel Incentives

Nationwide (up to 80% Travel Required)

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on mission‑critical and complex infrastructure projects, including enterprise data centers, healthcare, aviation, government, and commercial facilities.

This role offers a comprehensive 1.5‑to‑2‑year training program designed to develop your expertise in commissioning electrical and MEP systems in technically demanding environments. If you have at least one year of data center or mission‑critical facility experience and are looking to grow your career through structured training, hands‑on fieldwork, and client‑facing leadership, this is the ideal opportunity.

You will play a key role throughout the entire commissioning lifecycle, from early design reviews to on‑site testing, documentation, and system optimization.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute onsite electrical and MEP commissioning activities for large facility projects

Schedule and manage all phases of the commissioning process on assigned projects

Perform commissionability reviews of design drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals

Develop commissioning plans, pre‑functional checklists, and functional performance tests (FPTs)

Conduct site walks to identify construction or sequence deficiencies and document findings in a detailed issues log

Witness and verify startup and operation of HVAC, control, electrical, plumbing, and lighting control systems

Perform onsite verification of pre‑functional checklists and system readiness

Troubleshoot and analyze HVAC, BAS controls, electrical, and plumbing systems

Analyze BAS trend data to confirm proper automatic operation and system behavior

Generate commissioning reports, final documentation, and system manuals

Interface with clients, contractors, engineers, vendors, and project teams

Lead and participate in construction and commissioning meetings

Follow established QA/QC procedures and maintain all project documentation

Utilize software tools such as CxAlloy, Kneat, Bluebeam, and Procore to manage commissioning data and workflows

Qualifications

Minimum 1+ year of experience in data center commissioning or other mission‑critical facilities

At least 5 years of experience in the design, construction, startup, or commissioning of electrical, HVAC, controls, plumbing, or lighting control systems

Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, and power quality testing

Familiarity with Level 1–5 commissioning procedures

Ability to read and interpret MEP design documents, submittals, and specifications

Proficient in electrical testing, system troubleshooting, and field verification

Excellent written and verbal communication skills – heavy documentation and client interaction required

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on active job sites

Strong analytical and organizational skills; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously

Willing and able to travel extensively (up to 80%) and work flexible hours to meet project timelines
